Spotlight: NBA In-Market Streaming
The first ever live streaming product for the NBC Sports Regional Networks featured in-market NBA games. With the launch in 2014 and for the first time ever, local authenticated subscribers to CSN in San Francisco, Sacramento, Philadelphia, Chicago, Boston and Washington D.C. were able to watch their NBA team from inside their home territory market via mobile/tablet/desktop.
My role as project champion was to liaison between the local markets and the tech/dev team who would build the product. We hired content producers, ad inserters and operations managers. MVPD configurations had to be completed, feeds had to be configured, and most importantly, we needed to educate the audience who had never streamed a local game on the network sites or via the NBC Sports app.
This was a historic launch for these regional networks, on par with milestones like going to basic carriage, and a migration to high definition.
Here are a few launch highlights:
